It has always been a dream of mine to have a chandelier in my bathroom, right above my bathtub. My husband thinks I’m slightly crazy but I really don’t know what could be more elegant, calming and romantic. Just look at these images and tell me if I’m wrong. Of course if it’s up to me, I’d have a chandelier in every room of the house. So more chandelier posts to come.

I have to admit. I’ve succembed to the Mad Men mania and started watching it. And one of the first things that jumped out to me was the headboard in their bedroom. It’s a beautiful teal tuffeted upholestered headboards.

An upholestered headboard is something that I’ve been looking at for our future guest room. Here are some examples of headboards that I would like:

Ikat means “to tie” or “to bind”.  The strings are tied together and dyed before they are put on the loom to weave. Sometimes the bundles are covered with wax to prevent some of the dye coming through. Then more bundles are dyed to get the right colors for that fabric. It dates back to the 15th Century and is still woven all over the world:, especially in Central and South America, India, Japan and Indonesia.

I  have some ikat fabric from Indonesia and I tried to find it to take a picture and show you. But it’s unfortunately been the victim of the “declutterment” in order to have the house on the market. Don’t worry, it’s packed safely away and if I remember by the time I am finally able to unpack, I will post pictures then.

Ikat fabric is becoming more popular in interior design. And I’m not surprised, it’s absolutely beautiful. It can be used for basic pillows, or for recovering an old chair, and so on.

I want these chairs. Plain and simple. They have been upholstered with Madeline Weinrib fabric and then painted with a black lacquer.

It feels like it had been so long since I had been on campus. But at the same time, there was still the feeling of home. There were many changes going on, the student center was totally different on the inside, and the paint color and carpet were different in “my” building. My home away from home for four year, so many good memories but yet many sad. That is how we grow and how we become the person that we are today. I know I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for those years.

We lost the football game. Looks like we’ll have a perfect season. A season with no wins.

Jacobs is where I lived for all my accounting and business classes. And this room was where I spent the majority of that time.
