White Porcelain Ideas Needed for my Office

So as I mentioned yesterday, we got a chance to hang items in my office this weekend! Yay! And I got these hot pink cube shelves at Target on Clearance! So I had two white porcelain items to put in them but nothing to put in the third and it is soooooooo empty! So now I’m trying to find something. :-/ I think I may have found it tonight though but I need opinions! Honest opinions and if you have other ideas, I’m open. I definitely want something white, as the other two are white and I like the contrast against the hot pink. So here is what the boxes look like now (sorry about the blurry picture! It is late and I took it with my phone) and then my “media” corner. I promise real pictures of the rest of the office once I actually finish it all and get it cleaned up! Lol.

And here’s what I found over at Kim Westad’s Big Cartel shop. Isn’t this vase beautiful? I had wanted to stay with the animal theme but I couldn’t find anything big and tall enough to fill the space. Then I saw this and it is just so unique and beautiful. What are your thoughts?

Purple Accents or Purple Rooms?

So if you have a favorite color, do you prefer to put it in accents around the room or prefer to have most of the room that color? Let’s take purple for example, since it is one of my favorite colors.

How Should I Spend a Discount at West Elm?

Isn’t that a tough question? I got a 10% coupon for moving and I’m debating all the ways I could spend it! Of course, it’s at the back of my mind whether I really should spend it. I am really looking for a new duvet cover and this one I’ve fallen in love with but I haven’t seen/touched it in person so that might make a difference. I don’t know what color though! What do you think? Sea Spray or Slate?

Stylish Air Filters?

Bright White Rooms

I’m still going through my Germany pictures, but hope to have those up later this week. Until then, I wanted to post some of these bright white rooms that I am so jealous of right now! I know I keep complaining about how dark my apartment is but I never imagined how much I would miss that natural light I had gotten so use to in our house with those big windows. I bought the book Living with Light:Decorating the Scandinavian Way by Gail Abbott. So far, it’s so good! I just like looking at the rooms and hoping that one day again I’ll have big windows! Until then…

So what do you do when you don’t get enough natural light in your house? Or temporary apartment? Help!

Painted Ceilings

So one of the things I have been looking for in a house is a flat ceiling. It seems so simple but I’m tired of popcorn ceilings! So that is a requirement of my new place. Of course my Realtor keeps telling me that my husband can fix the ceilings but it’s just something I don’t thing would get done for awhile. One of the reasons I want a flat ceiling is so I can experiment with painting them. Does anyone else paint their ceilings? I think it would be nice! I mean look at these rooms!

Outdoor Spaces

So I’ve been wanting to put some patio furniture on my patio. And since it doesn’t look like we’re selling our house, I have to plan around our small patio. So I don’t know what I’m going to do. I would like a place to eat but yet a place to lounge. And it all has to look nice and be comfy. Is that too much to ask for my small space? Color Theory

Sorry for being MIA this week!! I was out sick the beginning of the week and then the week just got away from me. I really did mean to post last night but I fell asleep doing my homework. Oops! I’m really dragging this week. I got to paint for my homework assignment this week – the color wheel. I felt like I was back in grade school! I got to paint, cut out the paint into shapes to paste onto the special sheet. So I got to use paint, scissors and the glue stick! LOL. So we did an acrylic paint color wheel and then a color wheel in Adobe Lightroom with 24 hues. My painted color wheel is not accurate but my Lightroom color wheel got great reviews. Here’s both of my assignments if you’re curious what I’m learning about.

How has your week been? Hopefully better than mine! Do you have plans for the long weekend? Hopefully I’ll be back tomorrow for a ramble.

House Beautiful’s New Bookazine

House Beautiful has a new bookazine out called “500+ Favorite Paint Colors” and I have their other paint guide and I love it! I’m always looking at it, trying to find the best colors to go in my “new” house. So I definitely want to get this new bookazine sometime! Restful Sleep

How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was pretty busy. I did a huge spring cleaning and closet cleanse this weekend, in preparation for an Open House. It was a lot of work but am glad to have it done. I’ve been doing a lot for my Color Theory class. I am going to learn a lot in that class, I can tell! I can tell you the difference between a tint, shade and tone. Anyone know?

Anyways, this image stood out to me on the Style at Home website. It’s the bedroom of their editor Erin McLaughlin and she did such a good job at designing a place where one can get peaceful rest. It’s got my two favorite colors – grey and pink. The paint on the walls is Great White by Farrow & Ball and she says is grey during the day and moody purple at night. It sounds so pretty! Doesn’t it look so restful?
