Friday Ramblings – April 23rd

Hello my ChicGeek friends, sorry for being MIA the last few days. I felt the need to take a blogging break for my mental health, so I did from my blog and from other blogs. It was nice, but too bad I was busy with so much other stuff to relax!! Since it is technically Friday (wow, where did the week go!), I will do my typical rambling Friday. Wow, that worked out well!

  • First, Vegas, was a ton of fun! Here’s a pic of me losing money. Haha. We stuck to the penny slots most of the time when we gambled.

A few more pics, since I didn’t take too many. We did go to see Beatles Love. It was excellent!!

  • We got our new appliances this week. I’ll have to take pictures and show you next week. They look really nice but different. I’m so use to my white appliances that blend with my white cabinets! But I am liking my new stainless steel appliances!
  • I went yesterday and guest lectured at Clemson University on Information Security. (You knew I had to throw something in there for my geeky readers!) I’m not a speaker and I get really nervous. But once I got into it, it wasn’t that bad. The students actually had questions, which surprised both my brother and I! (My brother was the professor I was helping out). So it was kinda fun. Maybe I should be a professor now! It has crossed my mind in the past to do in the evenings if I ever need a back-up plan or second job.
  • My drawing of the week. I did this tonight. It’s suppose to be eggs and their shadows, but I’m convinced they look more like rocks. But it’s my 4th or 5th attempt and I gave up since it was 11:30 at night and it’s due tonight. Lol, I was taking it upstairs and wasn’t thinking of it being charcoal and pressed it up against me and rubbed some of it off, hence the random fading. Ugh!

  • I did a closet cleanse earlier and am going to try sell some on Ebay and give the rest to charity. What I sell, the funds will go directly to credit cards and what doesn’t sell after some attempts, I will give to charity. Here’s the picture of my piles. The folded pile is going to charity and then the hanging pile is going to be posted on Ebay. So I took all my pictures tonight and now I just need to post!

  • One last picture – I got my latest cards in the mail for me to put on my Etsy site. One set of them are of papillons (which are my moms dogs). I know I’m biased but who can resist this face?? icon smile Friday Ramblings April 23rd  Wouldn’t you want to receive this card in the mail? I know it would make me smile. Actually it does, and I have it sitting up in my kitchen now just to look at it. It makes me feel better. icon smile Friday Ramblings April 23rd Check my store next week for this this card and rest of the set – (her brother is just as cute!)

  • Alright, one more geeky thing! I am really really excited about this – I know I have some iPhone fans out there! Have you seen the latest iPhone? When I was at Clemson yesterday my brother was telling me the story of how the newest iPhone got lost and how the guy who found it tried to return it but the call center employees didn’t think they were missing it (I mean how often does Apple lose a prototype of an iPhone?) and refused to take it. Apple did wipe it remotely but the dude sold the iPhone to Gizmodo for $5,000. Gizmodo took it apart and looked at it physically – it’s awesome! I so want one! It’s apparently got a better camera, and a camera that faces both ways (assuming for video chat), flash, separate controls for volume, mute and they are all metallic, etc. It’s squared off and a little thinner but a little heavier. Anyways, I’ll quit rambling about this as not to bore my non-geeky readers but I am really excited about. (Told you I was a geek!). But if you are interested, start reading about it here.
  • Anyways, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Oh wow, you were busy. I am glad that you had a great time in Vegas. I so LOVE that word, closet cleanse. I may be borrowing it, if you don’t mind. I love your intention of paying of your credit cards. I never thought of selling clothes on EBay. I guess for me it is easier to give away. Great random stuff. Have a good weekend.

Anna, it’s been a slightly busy week. :-) .. Lol, use away!! One of my word combos while rambling. :-) I still have a bit to go – that was just tops from the main closet. Still need to go through bottoms and secondary closets and eventually boxes that I packed! But it will be a good feeling to have that space back. And it will be a better feeling to have a little extra cash to pay off some credit card debt. (Hopefully if it works as planned!). Thanks! Hope your weekend is great too!!

Sounds like you had a great trip! I’m curious — do you have any advice for selling clothes on ebay? I’m prepping for a major purge.

Hi Brigitte! I’ve actually never tried to sell clothes on Ebay before so this is my first time. But I know when I’m looking for things on Ebay, I look for nice pictures, things that look nice and then evidence that it is what it says it is. So when I took pictures last night, I took pictures of the tops hanging up – pictures of the front and back. Then I took a picture of it folded but more so I could focus on the tag and size. And then I zoomed in on the size. And lastly, I’ll just make sure everything is dry cleaned. As for pricing, I really don’t have a strategy yet. It might change based on what doesn’t sell. :-) But for the few things I got at Target/Forever 21, I’ll start those at $5. And then my J.Crew/Ann Taylor start those at $10 and buy now for $20 or something like that, etc. So that’s my strategy in my head for now. Check back with me when you decide to sell and I’ll let you know what actually worked!!! :-)

I think it is so important to take a break from blogging – I have been feeling a bit of blogging burnout myself. I am going to spend more time on my business and creating new work. Maybe post three times per week instead of five.

    Have a great weekend!
