Fun News!

Today I finished my application to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh (online) for their Residential Planning Diploma Program! I am so excited! I will start in two weeks and get to learn all sorts of cool stuff about Interior Decorating. It’s stuff I’ve been wanting to learn for a long time. I’m glad I finally bit the bullet and did it. So now you get to hear all about my program and see the projects as I go along. It’ll be an even more creative outlet for me and hopefully one day I can start a part time Interior Design Business or someday go full time. But I’ll start with the baby steps for now. Do you want to see what I’ll be learning over the next year and half?

I’m a little nervous about the drawing as I have no drawing bones in my body! But other than that, I’m really excited about the rest of the class. They look so neat. And all the classes are online, so I’ll attend them at night after work and log on when I can. It’s very flexible, which is something I’ve been looking for. Ok, enough of my rambling on about my exciting and fun news. Do you have any fun news do you want to share? I really do want to get to know everyone more!

    This is great! Congratulations!
Do you know if it’s possible for somebody from Portugal do attend those classes? It’s just that there aren’t any here and I can’t go to “school” as I have a full time job.

Congrats, Lori! You will be taking some interesting classes. I particularly like the history of furniture. I can’t wait for you to start writing about your classes.

This looks like so much fun, albeit a challenge, especially with a full-time challenge. But it looks like it might be up my alley so I look forward to checking it out. I am also an IT professional by trade but an interior designer by heart.

Good luck! The courses look very interesting and exciting! “Intro to AutoCAD” made me smile (i took that one way back, it was fun).
I’m still trying to sort out stuff on the home front, so nothing really exciting to share yet, hopefully later this year something fun will happen.

Congratulations! I hope you’ll give us periodic updates on what you’re learning, etc., because I’m very curious. I’m very interested in how you rate the online university experience, given the artistic nature of design. And, I am a fellow awful drawer! I think that’s why I never considered myself artistic growing up.

Hm…news. Nothing major, although I am taking an intro to glass blowing class next weekend. I am psyched!

Thank you all! I’m obviously very excited as this is comething I’ve wanted to do for awhile and I’m finally doing it. It will all be very new to me. Now I just need to pass the computer literacy test. ;-) I’m not too worried about it other than PhotoShop which I don’t have a lot of experience in. It will be challenging working full time and going to school part time but that’s how I got my Masters (and that was both online and in class) so I have some experience balancing that schedule. I will definitely keep you all posted on my progress!!

Brigitte – oh glass blowing sounds like a blast! I’ve always been enthralled with that and love watching them anytime I can see it. I want to hear all about it!

Helen – I have no experience in AutoCAD so I’m a little nervous about that one!! I hope something fun later this year happens!!

Caroline – Sounds like you are in the same position as I am. It’s definitely worth checking out.

Anna – Thanks! That one is one that really sounds interesting to me. :-)

    Emily – Thanks!!
Ana – I asked the lady who is helping me with admissions and she said they have a lot of international students and she’ll be glad to talk to you. I’ll send you an email with her information in it and then you can contact her. I’ll also send you the web address to the program itself so you can do some more research on the program. And definitely please let me know if you have any questions. :-)
