I received the latest Pottery Barn catalog in the mail today and as always spent time going through all the pages. This time I was struck by their lighting. They had an interesting variety. Some of it I can’t say that I really liked. I think they are experimenting too much. For example, I didn’t really expect to see a chandelier of wine bottles coming from Pottery Barn. It’s nice that they are trying to get out of their comfort zone but I think they missed the mark on a few of them. I put my top three ‘misses’ first. What do you think? Then there are a lot of lights that are just great ‘hits’. Maybe I should I have listed lighting as one of my “passions” in my “Blogging Your Way” Homework!

I agree with two of your “missed” pics, but not the bird nest lamp. If it’s small enough, I think it would look lovely in a child’s bedroom. Also really like the star lamp! Great picks!

I have to admit, the bird nest lamp, doesn’t look nearly as bad when it’s by itself. Helen, you made me look at it again!
But in the catalog, the way it was displayed in the room, it just turned me off. It’s 14 inches in diameter. So it might be a lamp that just needs the right styling! In case you’re curious, here’s how it is styled in the room: http://www.potterybarn.com/products/nest-pendant/?pkey=cpendants But I think you’re right, it would look cute in a child’s bedroom.

I totally agree with you on the styling photo. It didn’t really work for me
I was more envisioning it in a more swedish minimum looking room with a simple white crib/bed and some colorful bedding.
