How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was pretty busy. I did a huge spring cleaning and closet cleanse this weekend, in preparation for an Open House. It was a lot of work but am glad to have it done. I’ve been doing a lot for my Color Theory class. I am going to learn a lot in that class, I can tell! I can tell you the difference between a tint, shade and tone. Anyone know?
Anyways, this image stood out to me on the Style at Home website. It’s the bedroom of their editor Erin McLaughlin and she did such a good job at designing a place where one can get peaceful rest. It’s got my two favorite colors – grey and pink. The paint on the walls is Great White by Farrow & Ball and she says is grey during the day and moody purple at night. It sounds so pretty! Doesn’t it look so restful?

Tint refers to how bright/how much white a color has in it. Shade refers to how much black is in a color, and tone refers to how greyed a color is.
If that’s right then my color theory class paid off!

I’ve looked at this post every night before I go to sleep to help me sleep. The bed looks so comfy and the walls soothing.

Anna – I’m so glad this helps you sleep! It just looks so peaceful to me too. I’m going to have to keep this in my files for future decorating purposes.

Piper – I’m really starting to like grey! Are they? I’d love to see the different shades that you’ve painted them! I’m always trying to figure out how to get the right shade to make it warm but not cold. It does look so peaceful. Lol, I love girly pink, as if you didn’t know that yet!
No, we will be painting something in the class, I’m not sure what yet! This week we were just learning about hues, values, saturation, tints, shades, tones, etc and doing it all in Illustrator. Very interesting! I need to go get my acrylic paints soon though because I need them for the next assignment!

That is correct Allie! Your color theory class did pay off.
I’m learning a lot in mine.
